Story of Saint Gregorius from Nazianze ( 330-390)

Gregory was born in Asia Minor, in 330 from a religious family. Family life is inspired by their Christian life. Not surprising if he, his mother, and her siblings also declared a saint by the Church.Gregory Nazianzen experience a period of education. After completing basic education, he continued studying at Caesarea-Cappadocia, Alexandria, and Athens. This helps him develop his ideas.In Athens, Gregory had a friend named Basil, who became known as Basil the Great. Together with Basil, he retreated in a monastery in Pontus. He wanted to live in silence.However, it was not his vocation. God shows the way for him through his father who disagree with his choice. His father urged him back to his native region. Some time later, he decided to become a priest. Even the end, he became Archbishop of Constantinople at the age of 50 years. This is the beginning of his great work.When a bishop, he witnessed the living situation of people of faith are pathetic. At that time, appeared the heresy of Arianism. This doctrine teaches that the Holy Spirit and the Son is not a unity with God, but God's creation. This teaching could make a schism in the Church. Bishop Gregory tried to resolve this matter.He also founded a church emergency, because places of worship in the diocese already mastered the group Arianism. Emergency church is called "Anastasis" which means awakening.Arians would oppose it. Gregory who obey the teachings of the Church deal with interference and resistance from groups of Arianism with patience and calmness. "We must confront them (the Arians) with the sweet tact and patience of a high order to beat them," he told the congregation.Aware of the ability of his mind, Bishop Gregory utilize intellect in defending the faith. He has written and taught in cities that became centers of culture and science. He taught the true faithOf course this further sharpen the resistance group Arianism. Moreover, many people who return to teaching Arianis true faith thanks to Gregory's thought. Gregory succeeded in using the power of thought to defend the truths of faith.Finally, more and more people return to true doctrine. As a result, he was trying to kill a young man, agents of the Arians. Surprisingly, youths who want to kill it even changed when he realized that what he wanted to kill was a devout. He knelt down and admitted his evil intentions. It's God's gift to those who proclaim the truth.After his father died, Gregory fulfill his desire to live in the hermitage, where he could find solitude. He returned to Nazianzen, a more tranquil and quiet compared to Constantinople. However, Gregory did not forget the call of his life, that proclaim with his thoughts.In Nazianzen, Gregory still taught and wrote many books teaching the faith. From his writings, we know of Gregory as a theologian and philosopher wise. Life as an intellectual Gregory lived until his death.Gregory died in 390. The Church gave him the title of the Holy. He is regarded as a Doctor of the Church. He did not waste the gift that has been gotten.
